[EVENT] The Visitations

Who: All Characters
When: November 29-December 19
Where: Your Home
What: The Visits
Warnings: For language and other dark elements.

This is going to go a certain way! Each time there is a visitation by a ghost, we will post a thread. Then, we will respond to that thread, if you indicate you want us to do so, or if you will have other characters in the thread. Remember, the Ghost of Christmas Past will have all your characters in the same moment of time, so if you want to be able to interact with each other, go ahead. Additionally, you will be viewing the moment in time that your denizen was killed from a third person perspective, so you can meet up with anyone during that time, but you cannot talk to your denizen. Once your denizen is dead, you are free to move around the island.

During the viewing with the Ghost of Christmas Present, you will be in the same situation, but only able to view things within your own canon. This means you can’t really speak to anyone but the NPC of the Ghost, which will be played by the mods.

For when The World shows up, we will have a separate thread for her and Kuma will be responding to you with her. You can freely talk to anyone here as well, in the game.

If there are any questions please respond to the thread provided below.

[He giggles, an almost hysteric sound.]

Aren't you human?
gordianknots: A nicer girl there's surely never been (And formal debating)

[eyebrow raise] How is that relevant to this discussion?

Humans naturally judge everything they see to be 'good' or 'bad'. Most other races do the same, of course, but the point is that no one can truly stay impartial on subjects like this. A war is good or it's bad, and someone who's started war after war after war...
gordianknots: Please don't waste your pity votes on me (And I will never go home again)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2012-12-10 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[flatly] I am a mage. My sense of judgement is automatically skewed by that fact. It is therefore far easier for me to look at a war and understand the reasoning behind it and judge if it was necessary or unnecessary and what the ultimate benefits were for each side.

Hehe... Remind me to make you a history book when I have the time.

History of my world or yours?
grancenturio: (Papers)

[personal profile] grancenturio 2012-12-10 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Mine. I assume you're familiar with your own history.
gordianknots: Sing your society song - it never changes (We all love the Smiths and dig the Clash)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2012-12-10 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[he grins] So summon one then, the magic in this place works good enough for that.

Very well. [A book appears, and he hands it over to Waver.

The history of Ancardia is plagued with wars, petty conflicts, and very few periods of peace across the continent. For all of the thousand and so years of recorded history, there has been strife and death.]

Hmmm... It won't be current, of course. I've done some of my better work lately, dragging Fantasinia into a war and turning its allies away from it to prolong the conflict...
gordianknots: I will not sing along (But the smell of leather is intoxicating)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2012-12-10 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[Waver flips through slowly. He's had plenty of speed reading practice, but the need to consult maps and the like impedes his progress. Finally, he looks up, closing the cover gently] And what is your goal, in the end? That is what the ultimate justification is.
grancenturio: (Smug)

[personal profile] grancenturio 2012-12-10 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
To bring down a tyrant even older than Ancardia. To kill the gods.
gordianknots: I have riches you could never see (And I will build Jerusalem)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2012-12-10 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
You'd do well to meet another man who I saw war against once. His motivation was much the same. [with that, he places the book down on the coffee table] Is the death that weighs on your mind worth your ultimate goal?

[judging by the upset reaction, Waver knows the answer, but all the same]

It must be. I have spent far too much on it to turn away now.
gordianknots: But you take the grand prize in ego-tist-icat-acrobatic master of conceit (But I will never go home again)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2012-12-12 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm. The powers that be are preying on vulnerability then.
grancenturio: (Working)

[personal profile] grancenturio 2012-12-15 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
As expected from any decent opponent.

It is unfortunately clever too. If you have regrets, you see those. If you have accomplishments you are proud of, you see the results of those not being there. A win-win situation.

I feel backed into a corner with all of this.

The course of action remains the same. A momentary delay, and nothing more than that - in time we will forget that.
gordianknots: And I'd crack the whip and burn down this house of cards (You know the land your labours earned)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2012-12-22 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, and what is that course of action?
grancenturio: (Withdrawn)

[personal profile] grancenturio 2012-12-28 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
To learn. Without information, we will be lashing out blindly and have as much chance of success as an archer does of hitting a target in complete darkness.
