[ Emma is waiting at the door of the bar, mostly making sure to mark anyone who is underaged with a black marker, so they don't drink. It doesn't cross her mind that they could just imagine it up, but oh well. Sighing, she looks inside, hoping to maybe go in an partake in a few drinks herself...

Hanging out with Alexander the Great for a fortnight does wonders to one's weirdness immunity.

[ Emma laughs at that. ] Sorry, I guess I shouldn't even be surprised.

SSHHH NO SCHOOL AND MOD WORK COMES FIRST.

[He pauses, then grins] So let's ground both of us in reality. I'll give you one Alexander story for one about your mum.

[veraciously]

Alright, but only if you go first. [ She smiles to him ]

[With that, Waver drains the rest of his glass. It's just enough time to put his thoughts in order.]

Among magi, there are a number of rituals that are ridiculous, stupid, bloody, pointless, or some combination of the above. The ritual that allowed me to summon forth Alexander the great was mostly bloody, and functioned on the principle of battle royale between seven summoned spirits of various heroes. You can guess who I was working with.

Anyway, spirits in this ritual are allowed to manifest weaponized versions of their legends. One of Alexander's was an ox-drawn chariot - a part of the Gordian knot business - that could you know, fly. So, as one does, he hefted a skinnier, smaller, nineteen year old version of myself into the cart, and went flying away to pick a fight.

[ Emma listened and then snorted, imagining how small Waver must have been. ] Alright, so for mine, it's pretty complicated. The land my parents come from was taken over by a curse, causing them to forget me and everyone in their lives, just to live out a completely different one. This was caused by the Evil Queen Regina. I was stuffed in a magical wardrobe and sent to the "real world" to be protected from it.

[ She takes another swig of alcohol, then smiles ]

[About five foot one of British tsundere, Emma. You'd think it hilarious.]

Hm. Your magical wardrobe sounds like a TARDIS.

[ There is a long moment of staring before...]

Well, apparently I was supposed to be the one to break the curse. A dragon fight and a few weird things later, and the spell was broken. Kind of weird to have parents the same age as me though.

[ Mostly because some of the things she talked about with her mom...]

Well dragons sound far more existing than what I've had to fight.

Ultimate question is she actually aware of this?

My mom? or the Dragon?

Your mum! Although I'd be entertained if you were sitting around and befriending dragons.

Aware that I'm the same age? Yeah, it's kind of strange, but at the same time, she didn't know when I was talking to her as a friend. The spell wiped their memories.

[gordianknots]

I see. That is...well really I'm not sure how to feel about it, or if it is my place to, considering it isn't really my family or my interpersonal relationships.

[veraciously]

It's okay. Just kind of weird right? I didn't believe any of it at first.

You know, I grew up around magic. My perspective is decidedly warped and I'd take something like what you just explained at face value immediately.
