[EVENT] Boat Building Log

Who: France, Portugal, and YOU!
When: September 24th, all day
Where: North of the island, in various locations in the Rose District and the Docks
What: France and Portugal are implementing their boat plan into action. People help build a completed boat!
Warnings: Probably some mild language (either from hitting hands with hammers or minions stealing supplies).

(( ooc: All threads should be organized under the three threads below! You may lock threads as needed, or keep them open to everyone, it's up to you!

The Supply Gathering thread is for those characters who are going to be imagining up building supplies and nails and hammers and the like, in order to send them to the docks! You will be managed under Francis/France, who will be flitting from house to house to make sure people are summoning the right parts. When things start getting stolen, he'll also start summoning missing parts to try and make up for lost time.

The Building thread is for those characters who are going to be actually creating the boat on the docks! Occasionally, characters from the supply gathering camp will come and deliver things to you guys! You'll be managed under Afonso/Portugal, who will be making sure you're building according to his blueprints. Also be sure to look out for those pesky minions who will be stealing supplies and bogging down the boat-making process. Someone may have to start guarding the supplies, but you'll also have to hurry on the boat!

Lastly, the Provision Gathering thread is for after the boat is built. This is for helping summon weapons and food and storing it into the hold of the ship. These weapons can later be used in the fight against the minions later, but any guns will have a very limited ammo supply because the minions will catch everyone by surprise! Any actual fighting of the minions will be carried out in the log posted on the 4th of April.

America nearly drops the rope when he sees those claws extend. "Holy crap! Aw man, here I thought you were totally helpless! Remind me never to get you wet or something! Ha ha ha ha!" He scratches his nose and crouches down.

"Okay! So here's the plan! We tie up the ropes like this..." The big nation starts making knots and a loop. "Then we gotta tie it... and pick a tree..." He looks around and points to one that seemed flexible. "That one! Perfect! Here, watch this!"

Within moments, America pulls down a branch and works the rope around it and another small twig until there is something like this set up. He adds the finishing touch by reaching into a small pack on his belt and taking out some jerky to place in the center of the loop. Stepping back, he puts his arms on his hips and surveys his work. "Ta da! Once we get something caught in this snare, we'll rush out and beat it up! Easy, huh?!"

"No way! I am purrfectly capable of taking care of myself. I did it back home, even without these fancy tricks." Nepeta said as she checked out how America was working and hanging the rope around. She knew very well that these types of traps were super effective though.

"Heehee, I like the way you think, Americat." She shimmied out of her red coat so it wouldn't weigh her down when the time came to catch their prey. Now where was a good bush to hide behind or something...

America takes off his hat as well, glad that Nepeta seems to be picking this up really quick. Though most animals were color-blind, there's no telling what they're like in this strange place, so might as well not take any chances. He looks around quickly for a good spot to hide in. Rocks made it harder to see through, trees were too narrow, so he opted to pull some bushes together a few yards away. "Here we go!" he calls to Nepeta, "all we gotta do is stay low!"

Stepping behind the bush, he lowers himself so he's lying on his stomach. "This way we can also keep our ear to the ground!" He pats the grass. "We can totally hear what's coming! Aw man, I can't wait to see what we're gonna catch!"

Nepeta followed her partner behind the brush he gathered and laid down. She looked totally cat-like, ready to pounce on whatever came their way.

She was mostly teasing when she did this, but she held her finger to her lips and shooshed America. "Americat, huuush!" Though she was having a hard time stifling her own giggles. She was really excited too and she could smell something coming already.

America's next sentence stopped cold in his throat she shushed him, partly from surprise. He couldn't help but grin; looks like she's getting the hang of it pretty fast! He nodded quickly and placed his ear to the soil. Just barely, there was something coming. Maybe it was something light, like a rabbit or small deer. That's good, the snare they set should do the trick.

Within moments, America could hear the snap and the tug and what sounded like the cry of a small animal. He motioned to Nepeta by pointing in the direction of the snare, then sprang up from behind the bushes to race towards the trap. Just as he took out his knife, he could clearly see the animal now. So much for a rabbit or deer; it looked like a tiny fluffy cub had its paw stuck in the rope. Its innocent wide eyes looked up at the nation as if pleading.

"I.... I can't do it! Look at the little guy! Isn't he cute?!" He calls to Nepeta as he puts his knife away. "I... We totally can't eat him!"

It's true; she was getting the hang of it. Though, Nepeta still wasn't so used to being patient and waiting for a kill without stalking it so once she heard the tell-tale snap of the trap, she jumped into over enthusiastic action.

Except by the time she got to the animal, America had stopped and she looked at him totally dumbfounded. "Yes we can!!" Even if it was, admittedly, pretty cute. "Just think. It wont be a little guy for long and then it'll be the one hunting after us."

"What!? Ha ha ha ha! No way! I bet when he grows up, he's gonna be a good bear!" America quickly dismantles the snare so that he can pick the bear up in his arms. It howls in distress as it's tightly held in the man's grip while being shown to the hunting partner. "See!? He's totally got a hero's face! He's gonna beat up the bad bears and save the uh, the lady bears! We can't just-"

Before America could finish, a low growl rumbled from not too far away. Just as he turned towards the direction of the sound, a much much larger, grown bear tore out from the cluster of trees. Its gaze focused on the smaller cub in America's arms then let loose a deafening roar and lunged forward.

"Oh crap!" Unfortunately, America hadn't put two-and-two together at the time, so he tucked the cub under one arm and grabbed Nepeta with the other to burst into a sprint. "That's definitely a bad bear! We're getting outta here!"

"Whaaaaaat!!! What are you dooooing!?" Nepeta screeched as America picked her up, though there were some leftover giggles in there because this was, really, very silly. She looked over her shoulder to see the mama bear following.

"That's the real prey right there!"

America lept over a hedge after barely dodging a claw swiping at his head. "What?! Come on, kiddo! You're supposed to be freaking out when I'm doing this hero thing! Kinda like good bear here! Hey wait-" The small cub struggled in America's arm before letting out another cry, causing the larger bear to roar again. He quickly looked over his shoulder for a moment then back at the small bear. "Aw man! Don't tell me that's your mom or something!? Dude, that's not cool, I'm not supposed to be the bad bear- I mean, guy! Whoa, kid, don't bite, I'll put you down in a sec!"

Unfortunately, going at his momentum, America winds up dropping the cub before tripping, spinning trying to catch his balance, and both he and Nepeta slide off a ledge and into a small pond. Within moments, he resurfaces with a loud gasp. "BWAGH! Ptoo! Ugh! Hey, Nepeta?! Nepeta!?"

Perhaps it was America who had a lot to learn, then. But Nepeta would paw and hiss at him later when she wasn't struggling to stay afloat.

She had never been taught by her lusus how to swim because there was never any need to. Even if the pond wasn't all that deep, it was still kind of scary and her cat instincts were kicking in. "America! Gah--!" Nepeta flailed in the water, trying to grab onto where she though America might be.

At the sound of her cry, America quickly freestyles himself to where she floundered. "Hold on, Nepeta! I'm right here! I gotcha! Calm down, it's gonna be alright!" He scooped her onto his chest while he swam backwards towards the shore. When his feet touched the bottom, he was able to climb out of the water still carrying his smaller friend.

"Phew! Maaan, that was crazy! Hey, hey, are you okay? Didja swallow a lot of water, kiddo?"

Nepeta ~~then hacked up a hairball on his shoulder~~ coughed, making a sound that was something between a hiss and a wheeze to get the water out, and held onto him with all her might. Even when they were safely on land she clung to America with no intention of letting go.

"Americaaaat," she whined. "Don't do that again!" She was not going to dignify his question with an answer, apparently.

America could only give her an apologetic grin. They were both still sopping wet, but he figured her outburst was a sign that she was going to be okay. "Sorry about that! Guess I totally failed on that plan, huh? It's okay, we'll have next tim- ATCHOO!" He turned away from her to sneeze.

"Oh man, we better change before catching something! Sucks if you're on a boat and you're sick, y'know?" He was about to set her down when a thought hit him. "Hey, how about a free ride back, Nepeta? I'll get you back to your place with my awesome superhero speed! And uh, it'll kinda make up for that surprise dive back there, ha ha ha!"

Despite being grumbly and wet - WET AAGGH - still, Nepeta was happy that there was a plan for a next time at all. This was the most fun she had had while being at Arcanarum so far.

America was not going to get off so easily, though. She was still clinging tightly, and he would have ended up giving her a ride back whether he had asked or not. Nepeta nodded to his offer. "I would like that verry much."

And so they rode back to the building site, thus ending their grand adventure.
