[EVENT] The Visitations

This is going to go a certain way! Each time there is a visitation by a ghost, we will post a thread. Then, we will respond to that thread, if you indicate you want us to do so, or if you will have other characters in the thread. Remember, the Ghost of Christmas Past will have all your characters in the same moment of time, so if you want to be able to interact with each other, go ahead. Additionally, you will be viewing the moment in time that your denizen was killed from a third person perspective, so you can meet up with anyone during that time, but you cannot talk to your denizen. Once your denizen is dead, you are free to move around the island.

During the viewing with the Ghost of Christmas Present, you will be in the same situation, but only able to view things within your own canon. This means you can’t really speak to anyone but the NPC of the Ghost, which will be played by the mods.

For when The World shows up, we will have a separate thread for her and Kuma will be responding to you with her. You can freely talk to anyone here as well, in the game.

THE WORLD THREAD

[ It’s dark, and you’re standing in a graveyard. It very quiet and you’re starting to feel someone behind you. When you turn around, a shrouded dark figure is standing behind you. You gasp and try to run, but you are frozen in place. He begins to reach to you before someone calls out and a bright light surrounds you.

You wake up suddenly and realize you are in your home. The World is right before the shopping district, and calls to you cheerfully.

“Good morning! I have some presents for you!”

If you meet her at the shopping district, you'll see her standing near a big pile of boxes. If you don't talk to her, she'll make sure the presents end up in your room before she leaves. She's wearing warm white robes and a wintery mask ]

Do I get a present, too?

[ The drawling question comes from the mouth of an alley, where a young man with blond, curled hair stands, arms crossed and shoulder leaning into the nearby building. His expression is calm, curious, but assessing. As if he's trying to see through the mask that she wears. ]

Or-- did my help not make up for everything that put me on the naughty list..?

[ There is a moment where The World stares at him. There is an expression on her mask that is obviously pained, but she frowns to hide it a little more. ]

Of course you don't. You're supposed to be asleep like the rest of them.

[ Her tone is light and annoyed. ]

You should know better by now.

[ His eyes widen, bright and far too lucid, and his expression almost seems grave. Maybe even pitying, like she just doesn't understand. ]

I'll always find a way around tricks like those. Just give it a little time!

He was curious, but apprehensive. A stony expression covers his face and his skin dulls to a shade between steel blue and slate gray. He's wary, already untrusting, even fatalistic. Having been shown you are essentially meaningless will do that, after all.

Nothing much to lose.

Still, Renne has questions and to let them go unasked wouldn't be right, would it?

"Why? Haow? Why it do that?"

The World just smiled to him patiently. "Don't worry, you mean more then you know. They only showed you that to trick you." She wanted to help him feel better, in anyway.

He just gives a skeptical 'look', perking both ears forward. hard truths are hard truths; nothing more and nothing less in his mind. Logically, having heard what he had, there's little else to deduce. Still, new information he might not be privy to may exist.

"Rrrrenne noh go-t prrres-ent fohrr yeu yet."

Yes, he's a touch apologetic at this since he's well aware of gift exchange customs.

Hell I hope I'm doing this right

[It takes Waver .2 seconds two decide what to do in response to a ruler-interupted dream with an invitation. And that is to summon up a warm red wool coat that isn't quite his but close enough, wear it like armor, and go to investigate the damn thing, scowl on his face for the duration of the walk.]

This is possibly the most riduclous group of events I've dealt with over the years. [okay it is hyperbole, and a bit of a lie, but it is also said outloud and undirected to any one person. The next part though? Definitely aimed at the World.]

Forgive me gross cynicism but I fail to see how gifts make up for emotional trauma.

[ The World looks a little shocked, but then shakes her head ] That's not what I meant. I just wanted to help...

[ She looks in the pile and hands him two boxes ]

But, you have some presents here...if you want them.

Miss, as I understand it, you stopped whatever was to come with the next - whatever, terrible Christmas re-run let's say - for which there is gratitude, but this part feels more like salve on an already made wound.

[It may be wise to stop being an ass for a minute though. This thing has been an ordeal] Which is not to say I am not grateful for the first one. You are--?

[When Domon woke up and heard the World's voice, he only stopped long enough to make sure his friends were okay before rushing out the door towards the shopping district. But once he got where he could see her, he slowed to a walk. He approached her almost cautiously, his expression a mixture of hope and suspicion. Once he's close enough to confront her, he gets right to the point.]

How do I know you're not on their side? That this isn't all part of some trick?

[He wants to believe her, but he's gotten so used to betrayal. The stunt Justice - at least he thinks it was Justice - just pulled has reopened old mental wounds.]

[ She looks a little worried, but instead, she reaches out and takes his hand in both of hers. Her expression becomes more determined. ]

I know what she did was wrong; I was capture by them for a while. I'm not saying you have to completely trust me, but I promise you I'm not on their side. I don't want what happened to them to happen to you.

[get_the_win]

[His hands were clenched into fists, and he didn't relax when she took his hand in hers. But he didn't pull his fist away either. He was more confused than he cared to admit. There had been so much betrayal in his life, and some of it wasn't even true. What was he supposed to believe?]

[But then his expression softened at her words.] The people and animals the Rulers want us to replace, what they just showed us happened to them... That really happened, didn't it?

[It takes Stiles a while to answer the call from the World, simply because the last time they'd done that--well, it'd been a trap. He stares up at the ceiling of his room, furrowing his brows as he weighs his options, but eventually, his nagging question about wolves pushing it's way to his mind is what has him rolling out of bed.

Stiles bundles himself up in his dark winter jacket, pulling on a warm scarf and boots, stomping out into the new fallen snow. Sure enough, there are actually presents, and a woman, one seeming much more, well, trustworthy, than the first apparition. Jogging up to her, he stuffs his hands in his pockets.]

So--you're....the world. The actual World. Not the fake one. Right?

[maskedworld]

Yes, I am. You're...Stiles, right? I try to remember everyone's names.

[ She gives him a smile and digs around her pile for her presents. ]

[hypercompetent]

Yeah, I am.

[Watching her look around through the presents, Stiles shifts forward on his heels, trying to get the words out as evenly as possible. This is a golden opportunity--one that can't be squandered. Kicking his shoe in the ground, he looks down before looking back to her again.]

Listen, I...wanted to ask you something. I seriously doubt you can actually tell me a lot about that Final Destination worthy nightmare, but I want to know about Red. My friends and her...have something in common, I guess, but I can't really tell if everything's exactly the same or if it's something different entirely, and if I'm...supposed to be turning into that, I need to know which is which.

[It's kind of a long shot, but he wants to try.]

If you can't tell me anything about her, where can I find someone--or something--that can?

[And after a beat, he adds, a little quietly.]

Why did they take them?

[ And you have now a world giving you a hug, marie]

I don't know...I'm so sorry.

[Marie will hug back.]

They even took Germany.

[Alright, well, seeing someone new in a mask wasn't exactly... comforting, but whatever this person was, she seemed a hell of a lot better than the figure Scott had seen before.

...Not that he was scared he was going to see that figure again, anyway.

The others were probably going to get mad at him for walking off alone, but to be fair... they probably all needed their alone time. Walking up to The World, Scott motions toward himself with a shy point.]

...Me? All of us? Who... are you?

[maskedworld]

I am The World. I help you all out when they get a little out of hand. They have my power capped, though, so I am unable to help for long.

[ She digs through the pile and pulls out presents for him ]

[puppyface]

...The World? Like... the one we're in now?

[Slowly and hesitantly, he reaches out his hands to accept the presents.]

...What, uh, are these? They're not going to be... anything like what we saw... right?

[He gives her a sheepish smile, trying to be grateful- but he can't help but worry. This has been an ordeal.]

World... Were you the one that stopped that?

[Louis didn't even glance at the boxes, more concerned with her actions.]

I am hardly ungrateful, of course, but I must wonder why.

[ The World has already gotten his presents out ]

Because he was going to show you something that you didn't need to see.

...I do appreciate it. Out of all of them, you alone have showed kindness to us. I can't claim to understand it.
