Suddenly, you’ve been pulled by your new flying abilities and deposited so kindly on the deck of the ship. Around you are hundreds of zombies and it seems like you’re in for a fight. When you look starboard, you notice weapons lying around that have some short of a strange glow. May as well grab them and fight, right? Team up and beat those ghosties!!

Trouble? Not for anybody on OUR side, sure!

[The undead crewmen are pitted a tiny, tattooed boy bent on stabbing them in the knees and the neck, the ears and the eyes. He doesn't bother with defense, only dodging the attacks as he mows through the pirates, laughing at the stupid looks of frustration on their faces. He stomps on their toes for spite, too. When they're close enough to the side, Avenger just shoves them overboard.

But small as they are, eventually they'll start tiring from the battle. They're fighting zombies; zombies don't get discouraged by loss of limbs or stabbing.]

[Huffing and puffing from the exertion, Bazett steps so she is back to back with Avenger.]

How many are left?

[She knows this might be a stupid question. There are enough left to surround them. There are enough left to overwhelm them. This is a battle that they are unlikely to win.]

[Avenger's legs are shaking slightly from the stress he's putting on them to keep fighting. He doesn't seem to notice that as Bazett backs up against his back. Airily, bring his daggers up to a guard position;]

That's a silly question, boss. Way too many.

[He's untroubled by the numbers of enemies surrounding them. Sure, it was a situation where they stuck on the losing side, but. It was a common staple of one of the time loops ending. On the bright side, it seemed they were intent on capture, not murder.]

[She sweeps her eyes across the ship again. A few children are still fighting, but others have been knocked out and restrained.]

In other words, we will be unable to even retreat from here?

[ Except that flung arm misses completely, because Mukuro has already moved from that spot in order to take out a zombie shuffling towards someone else. Irritation at Hibari for stealing his kills merely encourages him to keep up a count of the bodies that he disposes of, his efficiency increasing as he sinks into that mindset where you are hyperaware and fully focused on everything, everyone, and yourself. ]

Mukuro pays no attention to the Japanese boy with the rusty sword, glancing at him only long enough to register that he isn't a threat to be disposed of like the ghosts before whisking past in pursuit of another zombie. Bits of gore speckle his clothes, making Mukuro look like some crazed executioner on a murder spree. A description which quite aptly describes him, even on his good days.

Well, without any magic that could seriously do damage to these zombies (such as fire), Howl is left struggling to fend off the surprisingly energetic undead with a polearm. If he shoves hard enough, he can knock them off their feet. And if he positions it right, he can knock them overboard. What does it matter how much he contributes to the fight though, since so many others are doing a well enough job on their own?

Granted, a bit of wind does help in speeding his steps up before he can be caught at with those flailing arms. But he's (again) amongst the first to be captured when everything goes awry.

Boring. [ He stomps on the zombie's head when it continues to struggle to crawl forward, yanking a dagger out of its sheath - it's not hard to hack his way back over to her side, presenting her with light sword he'd picked up on the way.

It should be small enough for her to handle easily, and sturdy enough to parry any blows from the zombies - honestly, he can't say why he's actually working with other people instead of ignoring them and leaving them to their own fates, but here he is. ]

Look to your front. My prey is behind you. [ and off he goes again, a tiny whirlwind of hacking and slashing. Best take his advice and attack while he's covering your back, Bazett! ]

[ Except that somehow, Mukuro has completely managed to miss the fact that there's a zombie falling on him from above - yes, falling, and its sword is headed straight for the stupid little tuft on the back of his head. And... It strikes.

Or, well, at least it would have, if Hibari hadn't set said zombie on fire at that moment and severed its head from its neck, stepping back and letting it fall to the deck with a sickening thud. Man, he just saved your ass, Mukuro. You should thank him. ]

You owe me, Rokudo, [ is all he says despite that, darting off to continue his merry little slaughter - but still somehow keeping an eye on the shrunken illusionist (and Gokudera) just in case. ]

THE WORLD THREAD

[ The World shows up on the dock with a familiar blond man, looking up to the boat. Taking in a breath, she raises her hand and the boat disappears. However, that seems all she can do as she falls to one knee. Everyone falls into the ocean, but it seems you're all the proper age again!!

You ended up with a physical trait from your denizen though...

Talk to her and her friend? ]

[Arya's never seen The World in person before, but she has heard of her. Still, nothing's actually happened to her, save the ruby-red slippers that are now glued to her feet.

Still, she swims closer to the dock, towards the woman waiting there.]

[Where would they retreat to? Avenger can't swim, he has no clue how to. The ship is festering with undead enemies, as is the cabins, the mast, the back and front. He tenses up, readying himself.]

Bingo!

[She nods and quickly, silently, starts hacking at the closest zombie in front of her with the sword. Once she has finished with him, she turns to see if the boy is in need of any assistance.]

Damn.

[She looks around, but cannot see Lord El Melloi. She would rather have him make the call on whether they should continue fighting or if they should give up and conserve energy for later.]

Then, would you rather continue as we were, or would you rather we conserved energy until we found an opening?

I thought you were the brains of this operation here.

[Sorry, he's already forgotten about the little snot that was Waver trapped under one of the pirates' bodies. He shrugs. He's gotten his fight. Swell.]

I say we give up and wait for a good opening.

[She has already resigned herself to the fact that she would be quickly defeated if she fought alone, while she might have lasted a little longer cooperating with Avenger. Therefore, if he wishes to resign this battle, she has no choice but to also surrender.]

I would have appreciated an order from my lord...

[In other words, Lord El Melloi is the brains of the operation.]

...But now that he is unavailable, I have to find the option you would whine about the least. I would be unable to properly plan if I had to take time out to listen to you complain.

[ Kneeling down, the World's mask smiles to her and she holds out a hand ]

[ Natsuno doesn't really know what politeness is. Not even in the face of this girl. So once he manages to drag himself out of the water, completely soaked, he isn't looking too happy. But then again, instead of being downright rude it's more just that he's really blunt. He's hardly noticed his hair having grown darker all the way to black yet though. ]

Was that swim really needed?

[ Apparently, he's just fine with setting the zombies on fire and kicking them overboard. It doesn't look like he's tiring at all, something that's probably surprising for someone as small as him, and soon enough, the immediate area around the two of them is clear of undead.

He heaves a sigh and kicks a dismembered arm overboard to join the rest of the bodies - his flaming hand transforms back into flesh and blood, before he turns back to Bazett, tilting his head. ]

It seems that you have some teeth after all, [ he remarks. It sounds pretty odd coming from someone like him, but you can take it as a compliment. ]

[She hacks at another pirate before answering.]

I would have shown you something more impressive if I had any of my powers back.

[She gives The World a firm nod. She's not sure who she's dealing with, but right now a helping hand is all she really needs.]

[Last time, Waver didn't have much to say to the World. This time is different.]

You know for all the help you're giving, it's getting much harder to keep morale up.

[Even if their backs are to each other, Bazett would practically be able hear his eyeroll. Sadly if she expected Avenger to grow up and harden his spine a little, she would be disappointed. He still gives up too easily.]

[Gosh, that's an exaggeration about how much he complains. And man, he'd preferred it when Bazett didn't have to check everything she did with her superior.]

Shutting up now then. Make up your mind fast, those pirates look like they're getting impatient.

We just don't know.

Once he's reached the dock, he drags himself out of the water with a bit of miserable coughing and sputtering about stupid seasickness and stupid boats and stupid seaweed, crouched down on his knees before looking around. Oh, hey. His legs were the correct length again. |D

[She takes a deep breath, drops her weapon, and holds her hands up in surrender. When a pirate picks her up by the collar, she does not struggle.]
